There were a number of events for
laserists to attend beginning on Saturday morning though the conference
started unofficially on Friday evening at the Laser F/X studio. Here is a
brief summary of events with quick links below to pages containing more
details.
Friday, 19 May 2000
| Laserists
started to arrive at our studio. We put them to work on the
traditional Friday night job of helping organise the conference....
and of course testing out Canadian laserist coolant. |
 |
Saturday, 20 May 2000
 |
The
first event was the Pangolin School, with Bill Benner. There were
two sessions, beginner/intermediate in the morning, and
intermediate/advanced in the afternoon.
In the evening Michael Roberts welcomed laserists
to his studio for a home-cooked meal at the Open House. The weather
was rather chilly so hanging out in the loading bay next to the keg
of laserist coolant was a popular spot. |
Sunday, 21 May 2000
Sunday featured
the Seminars. Interesting and enlightening presentations were
provided. Of special interest was the Scanning Panel featuring 3
experts and an interesting, yet entertaining, presentation by Prof.
Eric Hessles of York University on making antimatter with lasers.
In the evening, the Brewster awards were enjoyed
by all with many high quality entries coming from all over the
world. |
 |
Monday, 22 May 2000
 |
The trade show
gave laserists an opportunity to check out the latest and greatest
in hardware and software. Greg Makhov of LSDI conducted a special
"Scanner Rodeo" doing side by side comparisons of
different types of scanning systems.
Monday night featured the LaserFest... an
opportunity to see lots of great laser shows as well as some
experimental works. |
